Are 2 monitors worth it for this?

Thread Starter
I have a 1366x768 monitor that I'm using right now. This one in particular.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001382&Tpk=e1920x

But I have this GPU coming on the way:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103195

Way overpowered for just that one monitor. So the question arose, is it worth it to dish out another 100$ and get a second monitor?

Don't get a second monitor, especially because it's just 720p and it's small. For $150 you can get a nice full HD monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014240
If you don't have another option though, yes it's worth it.

Yes, it is. Once you've had dual monitors you will never go back to just one.

It depends. It is worth it if you need more desktop real estate. With more displays you will have more space but if you don't need it then it's not worth it.

That card can drive 3 monitors simultaneously either in Extended Desktop or 3 Eyefinity. For Eyefinity to work, you will need 3 monitors of the same resolution and refresh rate.

I think it'd look really weird to have a big 22" 1080p monitor next to a little 18" 720p.. But two of the same.. I think i'll do it.

Buying another crappy 1366x768 monitor is just shooting yourself in the leg.

For obvious reasons. Completely outdated, and two 1366x768 monitors won't look good in my opinion. I'd ge a full HD monitor and use your old monitor as a system observer. Full HD monitors are so dirt cheap that there's really no reason not to get one.

It doesn't IMO. You can use the smaller screen to display chat boxes, a movie when you browse or your hardware monitoring software.
Everything will look better on a 1080p+ HD screen, and with two of your current screens, I don't see anything that can be gained. If you bought two more of the same screen and ran three screens in eyefinity it may be pleasing to you, but I wouldn't run eyefinity with three of those screens on a 5970.

If you bought one good screen now, it will give you a starting point to add more good quality screens to that beast GPU later on down the road.
