Installing a 2500k

Thread Starter
Is it just me or did anyone else have to use a scary amount of force in order to lock their cpu onto the mobo? I have a gigabyte with a Z68 chipset and I was really scared that I was doing something wrong. Months later everything is going great though biggrin.gif

It does require a lot of force with some mobo's, you will often be afraid of breaking it, but you won't (or at least shouldn't...)

My 2600k took some force with the sabertooth p67 board as well.
i thought it was only me since dis was my first build i guess it was normal
post #8 of 25
Yeah I know about that! I took the retention bracket off and went without as I just wasnt going to even let the possibility of breaking it happen. As long as you have enough force to make solid contact with the pins the proc will be fine. That means NO OEM coolers!
