I can hit 4ghz on all 6 cores on mine but it gets scorching hot (under prime95 in-place ffts) even with my newly resolved cooling issues. Best I am able to get stable with reasonable temps is 3.8ghz with a 212 plus with just one fan.

BTW, where in NJ are you? I am in Deptford.

Built one for my uncle last week. Unlocked on first try and has been running happily since. Just started to OC and only at 3.7 ATM, but it is indeed scorching hot like someone else stated. Only a hyper on it though, so not expecting too much more. It runs over 65+ with linx and very close to that with prime. Probably drop it down a little and leave it, he doesn't need that much power anyway. Just OC'ing to test it out really.

Now, will run Prime95 tonite. Thanks.

Awesome! I think you better be careful running Prime without some serious cooling across those VRM's.Do not leave unattended!

got it to 4.2 with no issues except when running Prime with the 212. Photoshop runs faster and no issues with flight sims. cpu idles at 35C and loads to 55C.

I do play racing games and flight sims, which is where it might fall short. I'll soon find out.

Congrats on your overclock! Some friendly words of encouragement:

My old system was just an Athlon X2 5000 BE @ 3.0Ghz and an HD 3870 at stock speeds. I maxed out Racer Driver: Grid, and almost maxed out ES: Oblivion, Call of Duty WoW, F.E.A.R. 1, Borderlands, Stalker SoC with Complete Mod and several others . Using the same gfx card and a Phenom II 925 @ stock 2.8Ghz I maxed out Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect 1. These are just some random examples off the top of my head. All games were ran at 1680x1050 resolution.

Long story short... don't worry about your cpu. You'll be amazed how effective AMD processors can be for gaming once you stop reading benchmark websites and actually give them a run in real world situations smile.gif

(P.S... Photoshop CS5 ran pretty darn well on my Phenom II 925)

FYI I've found my IMC (CPU/NB) likes less voltage,1.325v rather than the 1.4v I suggested. This makes a big difference in temps also.

My new CPU 960T (buy as select,OEM, x6@3.8GHz, box looks like that http://www.falconcomputers.co.uk/media/product/4465/0/0/amd-960t-x4-amd-phenom-ii-x4-960t-am3-black-retail.jpg: ):

After unlock:

In my MoBo list CPU:

I not see CPU 1605T.I know CPUz it's not perfect identify CPU when CPU cores are unlocked but what CPU it is really in x6 mode?
With my 960T I found leaving it as an X4 was better overall at least for games.

Mine did 4GHz @ 1.39v as an X4 and as an X6 it needed 1.46v. Extra voltage and cores made it much hotter and I didnt see much benefit unless I was benchmarking. Also meant I could push the nb higher

Yeah, i ran my 955 BE and 2 4870s and maxed bf3 at 35 fps. lol

Then i had the 955 be at 4.2 ghz with a gtx 580 and it was at 60 fps most of the time.

But now im SB and hit 60 fps alllll day with stock clocks on everthing. lol
