XSPC Rasa 750 RS240 AMD Install questions

Thread Starter
I am installing the kit now, I have the radiator flushing as we speak (ran white vinegar through it first, both directions, now flushing with distilled water). And now I am faced with the backplate dilemma -- do I mod my Crosshair V stock backplate by drilling it out to accept the AMD mounting kit screws? or do I just stick the screws through the mainboard like this guy does here? My instinct is to drill out the backplate.

Input? Suggestions? Advice in general?

Thanx

I have the mounting bracket on, it is the backplate I am worried about. Or were you referring to something else at the link?

The stock one? If so, take it out.

Thats what I did to install my Hyper N520 on my BD a few weeks back. I think all aftermarket coolers require you to take out the stock backplate.

I ended up drilling out the stock backplate with a 5/32" bit, and grinding down the through-spacers, or whatever they are called. Seemed a more stable approach.

That may have voided your warranty, unless Asus doesn't care about that. But its your motherboard, so you can do whatever.
