Is it a one-time purchase only with no fees/no DLC/no cash shop items and nothing but additional big ass expansions? Is there a start and a finish with an ending and credits? Can I beat it and become a powerful and fairly wealthy max. level player within less than 100 hours?

If the answer is yes to every single one of those questions, then I might check it out. Otherwise, MMOs will still be as fun as Madden games to me.

- buy to play, like a normal video game, no subscription.
- you start out at level 1 doing some epic stuff and fighting bosses.
- the combat is much better than what you expect in a mmo.
- the game is made by one of the two developers who can make a mmo with responsive controls.
- the closest thing to "beating" the game i guess would be completing the your personal story and defeating Zhaitan, i dunno a time, but they're not "padding" the game.
- the Guild Wars store only sells cosmetic items like costumes. no relevant or necessary game content.

you really need ot go to the link in my signature and check it out. after reading the first post you can skip to post #249, thread got merged with a more barren thread a while back, so all the videos star from post 249. there's a lot of info in there.

EDIT: some clarifications.

the climactic encounter will be ready at launch.

since they are also looking to put the RPG back into MMORPG, you can say you've beaten the game after beating Zhaitan...but i don' expect credits will roll.

It will tick all of those boxes. You won't even have to worry about max level. The fun in GW2 starts at level 1, not max level.

I still can't get over Bioware and their HILLARIOUS decision to go with Star Wars instead of a Mass Effect MMO/FPS. Literally everything in the Mass Effect series was begging to be converted into an MMO - roles/specializations, leveling system, teamwork, skills, missions, huge worlds, planets, ships, etc.

No tanks/healers/dps, everyone is capable of supporting themselves with their own unique strengths (biotic, physical, etc) and can provide support to the squad if need be. What's more, Bioware KNOW how to develop the game extremely well because they're already familiar with the mechanics and engine.

After all that they decided to take a complete shot in the dark with a Star Wars MMO sticking to the Holy Trinity system. What the flying heck. I swear they would've gone with Lord of the Rings if it hadn't already been taken.
The only reasoning I can think of is that is that Bioware went for whatever had the largest fanbase, and the Star Wars fanbase outsizes the Mass Effect fanbase. Unfortunately the decision leaves them with a half-baked MMO that is already showing signs of decline.

they almost went with a Song of Fire and Ice MMO. i would loved mass effect though. i think the world was set up quite well for a mmo.

I think a Mass Effect MMO will depend on how well multiplayer is recieved in Mass Effect 3 which is already shaping up a little MMO like.

the game will be well received. the MP will not. it is tacked on and lacking. you cannot play as shepard's squad. you cannot be shep and garrus. you cannot be Tali. it's not even a co-op of the main story.

my hope is the a ME MMO is approved some day and the main bioware studio(that made the name bioware mean something, not that texas based Mythic mash up) will be working on it.

While I certainly don't speak for other people I have to say that for me personally that's actually a good thing.

At level 1. This is where all games should start being fun. Not after grinding months to reach max level to see something.
