now a box fan or a regular fan can help give airflow. although u might need a freezer to cool that thing down

Not even slightly. Not the GPU, CPU, or mem.

But honestly, why do prescott's run so hot? Any specific reason with voltages or is it more of a in depth reason?

Are you still using the stock thermal pad? If so scrape that off and put some AS5 on there. You should see a big difference.

in depth reason... Im pretty sure it has to do with the huge amount of pipelines... 32 I believe which makes them superior over northwoods...They not only run hot but they can also handle alot more heat so yes it migh seem like it runs hot compared to others...

Well I'll do that plus get a new CPU cooler. It's an old computer, but its good for folding. Doesn't hurt to drop 30 or 40 bucks into a decent cpu cooler. I mean it's not ancient, but I've outgrown it. It's still a p4 though, none the less. Once I get a new mobo, I got a old AMD Athlon 2400+, some ddr mem, Hard Drives, and a case. That'll be another folding machine. Also got an AMD 1400+ that has one of those weird mobos. 184 pin DDR and 168 pin SDRAM. Got that thing folding right now

But as for the thermal paste name, thank you. Was kind of in need of a good brand.

You can get the Scythe KATANA on Newegg for about $30 shipped, sometimes less if they have an open box one (I normally do not buy open box, but it's just a hunk of copper and a fan LOL)

I have that cooler on my spare folding rig, it's a 1.7Ghz Northwood OC'd to 2.2Ghz with ClockGen (motherboard doesn't support BIOS overclocking) and it keeps the CPU under full load at 41c, only about 15c over outside ambient....and that's with the stock fan and AS5.
