hdd question (im a noob)

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a new computer (couldnt be bothered building another rig) which came with a 500gb hdd already installed, however the current pc which I own has a 500gb hdd with all my software and after effects projects. I was wondering If I installed my current hdd into my new computer would all this software work and there would be no need to reinstall windows etc smile.gif

It can be a hit and miss. Windows 7 will usually work pretty fine, with only a restart needed to install everything correctly.

However, it may run into conflicts.

Go ahead and try it anyway, though do a Windows restore point just in case, so you can restore it if anything goes really wrong (which it shouldn't, but precautions are a good thing thumb.gif)

pretty much this, you may find drivers may need to be updated, usally they are done automatically but you might have to do it manually. smile.gif

It should work perfectly fine. If not you could use the HDD full of your things as a secondary HDD. I done this when one of my laptops broke. In 'Computer' is should have your HDD with everything still on it and it will be usable as if it was the C: drive
