Acer S232HL, 23" Ultra-Slim Widescreen LED Monitor, 1920x1080, 2ms(GtG)
for 109$ CAD on boxing day.... good deal? whats the backlight bleed like on this series of acer monitors? Is image quality great? Reliability?
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?item_id=042672

I currently have a Samsung 225MS (22" 1680x1050 LCD @ 5ms) that is 4 yrs old, paid $400, hoping to improve image quality in games.

I just got this monitor today on sale. This is really the first monitor I've purchased, so this may not be the best review. I think it's great. It's pretty much plug and play, the clarity is awesome, but to get the best settings, I had to fool around with the settings for a few minutes. The only bad thing is that the buttons aren't labeled, but when the menu comes up, it's pretty easy to figure out. In all, I think it's a great buy. All the other review that I've seen have been very good.

Good luck!

I've got the s230, very similar. Same size, led, pretty much everything. Only difference I can tell is slight looks, contrast on the box, and maybe some ports.

Anyways, this thing is amazing. I got mine for 119$ and I'm am not disapointed. It only weighs 5 pounds and is thinner than my cell phone for one.

Pros: amazing contrast, colors just pop. Light, thin, awesome price. 1080p, and 23inches is nice.

Cons, buttins are a pain. To use, not labeled and you have to feel them under the monnitor. On top of that the menus suck. Retarded start up time that shows 2 splash screens and takes about 8 seconds. Stand isn't adjustable on my model and sometimes, depending on how sturdy you desk is, shakes around because it is so light. (Not really as bad as. I may make it sound)

Id give mione 5 stars. For what I assume is. A better model at a lower price, I wouldn't hesitate a second longer, just buy it while its in stock!

Also, it may be because I didn't use a screwdriver and kind of rushed, but I seemed to have a problem where the base of the stand doesn't look like its fully "snapped in". Still sturdy, not an easysore since its hard to see, but I'm curious if. Other people have this. Problem.

I seem to point out more negatives in my reviews than negs, it may sound like I'm bashing it and making it look bad. I'm not, I kind of suck. At reviews lol. Jhust remember it has great color, great blacks, and looks good. Led is nice for power size and weight also.I don't. Have much to compare it to for visuals, but. I assume it looks better if not the same as a traditional.

Feel free to ask me anymore questions, please, I have a very long roadtrip ahead of me smile.gif

Thanks guys and welcome to OCN Hayden (dont forget to fill in your profile / system specs).

Unfortunately I ended up buying a Gigabyte 6450 and Samsung BluRay rom drive for the HTPC instead of buying a new monitor for myself... At least this post for the S232HL is now googleable.

I found something really awesome to save up for though, but its super expensive. http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=64741&vpn=LS24A850DW%2FZA&manufacture=Samsung&promoid=1301#CustomerReviews 1920x1200 resolution, a rare find, PLS instead of TN panel.

Hi I have the same monitor as you and I got it on the boxing day sale. Does the left side of your monitor heat up at all? I'm also getting this weird washed out "grid" effect on my monitor. Are these signs normal is something wrong with my monitor? Thanks!
