And also 1500 cores being slower than a 590 is defonately wroung unless NV has made each indeviual core weaker which to me doesn't seam to smart.

your assertion is more on point

I expect kepler 580 equivalent to be about 30-40% faster than the upcoming 7970....

can i have a look at your crystal ball ?

and where did you see official benchmarks for the fermi 2.0 aka kepler gpu again?

Why are you even in this thread? You obviously have ZERO interest in anything related to Nividia. You're only here to troll, flame bait and get another argument started....Go buy yourself a 7970 on the 9th and bottleneck the heck out of it with that "8-core" cpu of yours.thumb.gif

This. Not only that but don't worry. Once we get a bit more info on Keplar, the "price/performance" ratio argument will be back in full effect. You can quote me on that.

I think people get hung up on the CUDA-core number. It's a new architecture we're talking about. Can't compare number of cores between VLIW4 and VLIW5 so why would you do it with fermi vs kepler? You couldn't do that with GT200 vs fermi either!

GPUs do things in parallel without much of a sweat anyway so more cores should not be an issue like it is on the CPU-side.

a new architecture really?

so after spending all that money on fermi over the years they can get on another program without even maxing out the fermi architecture?

not even intel ditch an architecture after 2 years

I'd love to get a 780, but it's only DX11.1. It's pretty much the same crap we have these days but faster. If DX12 comes out in 2014-2015, then I'd consider getting it, but if DX12 comes out in 2013 then these cards are a waste.

Why buy these cards (780/7970) if DX12 instantly makes them outdated?

Reading through this thread, I've encountered a few stupid ideas
79xx will not be competing head to head with "Nvidias Last Gen" because it's nvidias last gen. - Of course 79xx will be head to head with the 5xx series, because they will both be on sale at the same time, when Kepler arrives, it will then compete head to head with 79xx. Thats just a perk of ATi getting these out early.

that the core-count is comparable - it is a new architecture, it is not comparable.

that Kepler will crap all over GCN - it's all speculation so far.. noone knows.

I am personally considering 79xx, but knowing me will be too poor to pick anything up, so I'll have to wait to see what Kepler has to offer too, and boy.. i hope its good.

Games instantly pop out for a new API?

Buddy, we barely have any DX11 games yet. (And none that are exclusively DX11, AFAIK)
