Okay an update here,
stuck it in a different rig and it works fine, So that rules out an issue with the VGA output and the card being dead. What the hell else can I try? Even though my board is fairly old, it shouldnt prevent my card from working. it has the correct PCI-e Version... the PSU is more than enough, Any ideas? I'm dieing to try this card in my rig! Hit me with ideas please! biggrin.gif

I had a similar issue, with my board not recognising my card despite everything spinning up and all that. Old card worked in that system, new card worked in a different system. New card didn't work in old system though. When I say old, though, I mean ~6yrs old so my issue was more likely related to the age of the board so my fix may not help you too much.

My issue was fixed by flashing the BIOS - so you can resort to that if you can't find any fixes anywhere else!

You said it's fairly old but don't exclude senile and dimentia.

Try to clean the PCIe slot. If that doesn't help, electrical shock/jolt? yessir.gif

Use another card to update the motherboard BIOS.

If still doesn't work, put the board into early retirement.
