What RAM and how much to get? [Up to 24 Gbs, fits under Megahalems]

I need some new RAM but it has to be able to fit under my Megahalems heatsink.
I've heard the Ripjaws X barely fit under the Megahalems.

I'm looking for DDR3 and up to 24Gbs.

I'd like to purchase in sets of 8Gb (4 x 2 gb) and three sets will allow me to do triple-channel, I only want to pay around $40 per 8Gb kit.

Cost aside, should I go for 24Gbs for my X58 system or should I pick up 16Gbs (4x4gb) and use 12Gb?
How much over-clocking potential be affected by the amount of RAM?

If you're wondering, I'm only considering sets of 8Gb because they are cheaper when added and I'd like 4gb sticks over 2gb sticks.

Thanks for your time.

G.skill snipers are supose to fit under a CM hyper 212+ so compare the diferent gaps under the fans/ heatsinks i think you might find the will fit.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231416 tho they are 2 x 4GB kits, but are great RAM as G.Skill ram is

also this 16GB 4 x 4GB corsair vengence low profile heat spreaders will do the job

as i am led to beleive the amount of ram you have should not affect your cpu overclock with this amount of ram smile.gif

i would recomend 8GB - 16GB should be heaps

"as i am led to beleive the amount of ram you have should not affect your cpu overclock with this amount of ram"

Well I have heard that 6 Dimm slots vs 3 slots affects over-clocking headroom.
Can anyone give me more detail about this?

Is there a significant difference between 1.65v, 1.5v, or 1.25v RAM for the X58 platform?
