One More Try

Thread Starter
Hi Evertbody.

At the moment I'm running at 2400Mhz (2.0Ghz Stock).

HTT 4x
FSB 240Mhz
Vcore 1.45V
Memory at 400 with divider.
2.5x3x3x8 (Corsair Value Ram)

The problem is that I can't go any higher. If I set 2.5Ghz prime95 fails. I tried voltage as high as 1.5V Surely the problem lies somewhere else. If tried many things but nothing works. But I want to try one more time. Any suggestions on what I should try?

Please help.
Thanks

If your ram's at 400 then overclocking the FSB will raise the speed of the ram making it run too fast, you will have to pop a larger divider in so the ram run's slower so you have more headroom for FSB.

When trying at 250 FSB I made the ration bigger. The ram is at 370 when
trying at 2.5Ghz

My question is basically if I can ram Corsair Value Ram at 2.5/3/3/8?

Can it be the timings that prevents me from running at 250Mhz? Even though I make the ram slower it still uses 2.5/3/3/8. Should I try 3/3/3/8? Can it make a difference?

You could try it, at 3/3/3/8 would be ok or 3/4/4/8, see if you can get it running ok then tighten them up later or something.

Is your ram set at 370 in your bios? If so your memory would be running at 231MHz (250HTT x .925), and you will want to increase that divider with your value type memory. Possibly a 166MHz (333) divider or more aggresive may be needed to see the full potential of your processor.

If the effective speed of your memory is 370 after your overclock, being set to approx. 133MHz (266) in your bios then try setting the command rate for your memory to 2T instead of 1T. Asus boards have a tendency to like 2T over 1T. I think the problem lies with your memory, because you should not need over 1.45 volts pumping through your cpu to achieve 2.5GHz. Another thing to look at is your chipset, do you have that voltage increased any? If it is set to like 1.5 or something increase that to 1.7 volts with temperatures considered.

Thanks

I'll try to lower my memory timings and set the command rate to 2T. It must be the ram but I don't know enough about ram settings. I though that the problem is not with the vcore. Like I said I tried 1.5V and still it failed. I'll play around with ram timings.

Thanks again.
