Looking at the release notes (pdf here), it looks like its mostly compatibility isssues, rather than anything performance enhancing.

More specifically, I do know that the latest FW (03B1Q) was released to address a specific issue where the drive wasn't detected properly after updating to the second FW (02B1Q) in some rare instances. I updated mine from the original directly to the latest FW in one go and it worked fine.

Not a lot, just a few compatibility tweaks. But the support/firmware team at Samsung takes their job very seriously...when some people had problems when updating from 01B1Q to 02B1Q, they released 03B1Q after less than 3 days just to sort a few "drive not recognized" bugs...less than 3 days. I bet that the next FW update will have some tasty improvements.

Will I have reviewed a few items and still not sure why I am getting such slow speeds. I change the SATA 3 port that where the drive was setup the first time. Could it be using the SATA 6 cable that came with the drive? Here is the results

would be nice to see your system

My System is with a link to the specs to the motherboard from newegg. I was worried that I read the specs wrong but does not look like I did. It should be able to handle SATA 3.0
Motherboard-M4A79XTD_EVO-BIOS 2102
Chip-AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
SSD-Samsung 830 256G Firmware
Graphic Card-SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100283VXL Radeon HD 5770 1GB
Memory-CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600.

Open to any ideas on what else I should check. Thanks

Valtopps, Thanks I did some more reading and just misunderstood the different SATA. Thanks for the help and pointing me in the right direction.

Finally got the SSD. Spent all my free time doing a fresh install. Looks pretty good and the system will boot in about 20-25 seconds now instead of the 2-3 minutes it did before on the 5400rpm
