4K speeds are highly affected by mobo power saving features. Disable any like C1E, C states, Intel speed step, etc. for better benches.

Yes, I have C1E and Speedstep enabled, but the other C States disabled.

Sean, what free backup program do you recommend to make an image of my fresh install of Win, that keeps all the settings, disk alignment, etc..., that would be easy to restore in case of anything goes wrong?

I have Acronis True Image 2010, but I don't know if there is one better or, at least, more updated.

My first time installing an SSD in a laptop. Lenovo X230 with a Samsung 830 256GB new drive. Looks good, little slower marks than my desktop. Look ok to everyone? Thanks

If you remain with msahci, this might give you a solution :
Quote:
The answer really depends on what driver you're set up with. I have a 6 port SATA connector (Intel ICH9 - 2922) and I use the default MS-AHCI driver. If you're in the same boat, create a couple of new keys here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci

_

\Controller0\Channel0
\Channel1
\Channel2
\Channel3
\Channel4
\Channel5

Now create a new DWORD - name: TreatAsInternalPort, value: 1 under each of the ChannelN keys. Now reboot for the changes to take effect and the drives should no longer show up under 'Safely Remove..'

Probably going to make the jump to a 128GB Samsung 840 Pro in the coming months from this crappy 64GB Agility 3. biggrin.gif

Should I wait for something even better to come out? Thinking around May/June-ish.
