I just got my 840 Pro, have it all setup up with windows. I have installed the latest Intel Rapid Share driver and i have followed the guide written by Sean Webster. Quick question.

Can i get SATA II to perform better then this ?

These are good suggestion, I had already followed Sean's guide, I doubled check 'most' of the changes, to my satisfaction they were all present and correct. I had the intel driver install too, the driver says I'm running the 840 pro in ACHI and in a SATA 6GB port.

I'll reinstall Windows (sigh, wasting more write cycles.)

Thanks for your help, though.

You are seriously worried about write cycles on an 840 Pro? Do you have any idea how many decades that drive will last? Even if you write 20GB/day that drive will last you at least a century, if that's not long enough then nothing is..

I don't think so. SATA II is a serious limitation for these newer drives.

I bought the non-pro 840, and I plan to just use it and abuse it!
And the only TLC my SSD will ever have, is its controller biggrin.gif

I hope you got the 250GB version because I find the 120 one just too small.
