lol, you guys benching and expecting a difference in speeds...your speeds are already affected by OS use and power saving features from your chipset. XD

I was gonna say the same but you beat me to it smile.gif
The results are never the same for me on each run and that's pretty normal. However I don't see why a firmware update would improve the seq/read speeds.

@Sean If you know can you just tell us what this new firmware update does?

From Samsung's website
Quote:
840 PRO - DXM05B0Q - Enabling the DAS function is default option

What is DAS function? and is it recommended if I update my firmware?

Thanks smile.gif

Using Raid 0 and single arrays, Samsung 840 Pro's are tested.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-raid-benchmark,3485.html
post #2386 of 5733
After i looked review from tomshardware i can say for sure, they didnt tune up their RAID fields and they can trow their big review in the garbage(sorry tom).Only benchmark where my Samsung RAID field lose from single is in 4k read. For g.d s.ke they didnt even turn on write back-cache,they tested RAID with Intel 11.7 and we all know that 11.2 is king for RAID field. They total score in AS-SSD for 2 x 128gb raid is 1759 and i can get without problem 2200..HELLLLLOOOOO Tom.

Thread Starter
So those concerned are aware, I'm having Sean do the next owners list update either this weekend or the next, depending on which he wants to do, as things got a bit serious here the past week and a half, and the past day or so I've gotten under the weather in the middle of settling back into normalcy. I'm hoping to be more active starting next month, but we'll see.

NAS, DAS or SAN?
direct-attached storage (DAS)

Used Magician to update mine last night. Painless, took 3 minutes.
