thanks, but what exactly does idle mean for SSD? is it when computer is idle or is it when ssd doesn't read/write? for example, if i play a game that loads level and doesn't access ssd for 1 hour until next level, does that mean idle time? or do i have to be away from pc not moving mouse and pressing any buttons?

Whenever the drive's controller recognizes there's garbage to be "collected" and there's no call for use by the OS. The amount of time the controller needs to be idle before this process starts, I have no idea.

Today I have bought SSD Samsung 830, in you opinion is it advantageous to update its firmware? May be it is already updated?
Thanks

That was on the day of my purchase, now few days of normal computer usage later my SSD speed seem to have gotten even better. Is this normal occurrence (not that I'm complaining)? biggrin.gif

if AS SSD shows green for your alignment then don't bother doing it.

check my post cheers.gif

wait, so if it shows 103424k as the alignment but it's green, i'm fine?

Yep, no need to re-align.

You have a 1MB (1024) offset plus the 100MB (102400) windows system reserve partition before your OS partition(=103424). Everything is good. smile.gif

Possibly disintegrate then incinerate due to self combustion.
