I really need your help on this!
I have the following issue:
I bought a 256 GB Samsung 830 SSD and mounted it on my ASUS N73SV notebook. Installed Win7 from scratch. Everyhting worked super. In fact, everything worked so well, that I decided to buy a second Samsung 830, to mount it on the second SATA port of my notebook. However, no matter how hard I tried, the BIOS fails to detect it. Windows 7 would detect it, sort of, but it hangs for abt 10 minutes at startup AND shutdown. So, no good.
I did the following:
- installed latest ASUS drivers
- updated BIOS to the latest version (306)
- updated SSD firmware (well, the firmware was up to date already, when I tried to update)
- made sure SATA port 1 is enabled
- I put a normal HHD on the port 1 and it gets detected by bIOS and OS, without problems
- tried to optimize it via SSD Magician, which told me that "the SSD is in "frozen" state" and prompted me to unplug it and plug it back in, while the PC is on(?!). Did that too, with no avail.
- pluged it in via SATA > USB adapter and everything works just fine - I even managed to partition it via USB
- at some point I put it back on the SATA port and changed the SATA from AHCI to IDE, That's when both SSDs got detected, but when it reached the point where Windows started to boot, I got the BSOD (ofcourse)
I'm running out of ideas. Can somebody help me out on this, pleeeease! I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the SSD, as it works perfectly via USB.
Cheers and hope you guys can help me out

this sounds like there is a conflict between the controller and the drive and/or pc (was this the e-sata port? how did you "mount" it?)

I wish I knew where to start...

Add me, two 256GB-ers in a raid0. Although my slow as heck 790FX isn't really letting me enjoy them yet. Trying to decide on what mobo to get to replace it.

Add me too please.

BTW Amazon and Newegg sell 128gb "pure" version for $129. Too bad they both don't do price match frown.gif, since I am still within 30 day window.

Hey guys! Just recently bought a Samsung 830 Series 256GB. I followed Sean's installation guide and optimization. After a week of use, here's my benchmark, and I must say that I am quite pleased with the benchmark and the real-time usage. biggrin.gif

And btw, how often should I benchmark? Because I heard that frequent benchmarking of an SSD is bad for it.

No need to benchmark anymore really unless you are having a weird speed issue.
