Here are some benches on IRST 12.9.0.1001 with a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB. This is the best I could do. :(

Just as a note: I know IRST 11.2 is supposed to be magical, but IRST 11.2 performed slower than IRST 12.9 for me with my Z68 mobo.

I always used to install the IRST drivers blindly until this time when I got my 1TB Evos, I thought of doing a little test...

I have RAPID enabled

Here are my Benchmarks for my C: Drive using the Intel Chipset Drivers v9.4.0.1022

Then I benchmarked after installing the Intel Rapid Sotrage Technology Driver v.12.8.0.1016 and notice the huge performance drop.

I guess the Samsung Magician Rapid doesn't like the IRST Controller or maybe because the drivers are not setup in RAID, eitherway, I get way better results with the default Intel Chipset INF / which is simply using the MS driver

you might wanna give it a try, but I tested, simply reinstall the Intel Chipset INF Software using the -overall -overide command will NOT give you the same performance boost although you will see it, the only option to give you a great boost is reverting back to an image before installing any IRST driver and only installing the Intel Chipset Drivers

You can not compare both of those screenshots you attached and say one driver is better than the other. the top one is with RAPID mode enabled and the bottom one is with RAPID mode disabled.

but I never touched the RAPID mode after having it enabled initially.

also, I tried disabling it then renabling it but it didn't make a difference

do you mean to say that when one uses the IRST driver RAPID mode doesn't work anymore?

It works with irst, you just didnt have it enabled in the second benchmark. I have an evo right here with IRST 12.9.0.1001 and RAPID works fine. However, benchmarks dont look as good with rapid enabled with IRST as they do with RAPID enabled with the default MSAHCI driver. I have my SATA mode set to RAID so I can't bench with the MSAHCI driver.

Typically if you have RAPID disabled, you will see that the IRST driver outperforms the MSAHCI driver.

dear amdgig,

1. as you might have guessed from my whopping total of 4 posts, i am new to the forum.
2. what if i am a girl?
3. can only boys join this forum?
4. since you didn't answer the question, does it suggest you don't know the answer?
5. i will ask unit igor personally, but that doesn't mean that no one knows the answer...someone else may have similar results.
6. don't reply if you can't be nice. not all the people in this forum have the same need to express their "manhood" by being openly disrespectful.

Thank you, Unit Igor, for responding. And yes, I believe the screenshot was fancycache. Can you PM me with the specs on your set up? Very interested in how you did that.

Ha Ha Ha actually I did not notice how may posts one had as I'm not qualified enough to attribute post count with any form of intelligence (if there is one that is?) , but now one does know that to go straight to the horses mouth is far better than being on the end of the freight train .
