Don't worry. Today, Intel and AMD performance is almost equal. Intel delivers a steady SATA performance, while in an AMD SB850 chipset I've seen the same performance but sometimes it decreases just a bit. A year ago, not only AMD AHCI drivers couldn't achieve the same speed as Intel drivers, but lacked TRIM and the performance was horrible. The did their homework and today AMD SATA performance is almost equal as Intel. And AMD was the first company to support TRIM for SATAIII.
Summing up: you'll be able to get the same read/write speed with Intel or AMD, but Intel SATA is more stable, while AMD can bounce up and down a little bit.
Just grab the AMD AHCI and Southbridge latest drivers from AMD web
