Hey all, just decided to register here after finding this thread.

I've had my new Samsung 830 for a couple of weeks and it's pretty damn fast, from my UEFI beeping to Windows 7 pretty much fully booted and Google chrome launching takes around 15 seconds, which is utterly incredible.

Just to add my AS SSD results to the mix, not really close to people who have got 800+ out of these things (What tweaks are people doing to get those!) but not bad for a half full drive.

How much is Sumsung 830 series " write limit"?

I read this words "Once their write limit has been reached, Solid-state drives go into read-only mode, where your information is still readable" here

Well still no fix on my write issue. Ive updated my boards bios and swapped the ports a few times. Asrock still hasnt gotten in touch with me. Ill try samsung support and see if they can shed some light. Any chance this could be because the drive is pretty full? Ive only got 38 gb of free space and I run ALL of my games off this drive. I wouldnt see that being the cause because when plugged into a marvell port it writes around 360 mbps. As of right now its only writing at around 50 mbps.

EDIT: Hmmm......something isnt adding up here.

ehhh depends. Probably from 100TB-1PB. You should be good for many years lol.

Write speed depends on the source you are reading from as well as the file type and size.

Have you tried running without the Intel SATA dirver?

Do this:
  1. Click Start
  2. In the Start menu, type Device Manager, hit Enter
  3. Click "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers"
  4. You will see AMD SATA Controller, Intel SATA controller, etc., right click and click "Properties"
  5. Go to the "Driver" tab
  6. Click "Update Driver"
  7. Click "Browse my Computer"
  8. Click "Let me pick"
  9. You will see the option to choose "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller", click this and click "Next" and let it install
  10. Then reboot and try to install the new firmware for your drive now

Actually im running with no intel RST driver right now. I thought I had re installed it but apparently not as all thats listed is the standard AHCI 1.0. Thats also whats under the driver properties. What gets me more confused is that atto and samsung magician show pathetic write speeds not exceeding 50-60 mbps but the AS SSD bench shows much higher.

Finally my SSD setup is ready. I have a 256GB Samsung 830 as boot drive and 4x256GB Samsung 830 in Raid0 with a LSI 9211-8i card.
Below are my results. Not the fastest on the market but Samsung SSDs are reliable and this makes me really happy.

1 x Samsung 830 256GB
508

4 x Samsung 830 256GB

Looks like the speed doesn't scale too well past two/three drives. Mine do just under 2x a single drive on sequential.

2x256GB on Intel controller
