Translate that intro real world performance and it means absolutely nothing.

For example, test this.....

Copy a huge 10GB + video file or whatever large file you want from your C: partition to another partition on another disk......

you will notice that the Windows file copy progress finishes insanely fast.....the moment it finishes the copy, I want you to restart your system

then check that file you copied, it would be corrupt, reason is, yes the file copy progress finished fast, but it didn't finish really, all it was doing is copying the file from your SSD to the RAM Cache and not the actual 2nd SSD or HDD you were intending to copy to, then after it goes to your RAM Cache using CRAPID, it is supposed to copy from the RAM Cache onto the actual disk in the background which didn't happen in this test I did since I restart immediately after the fake file transfer progress was finished.

so it's just cheating + placebo effect

And after you read this, you will never enable RAPID again.....it will actually make your performance worse not better

A Closer look at the crappy CRAPID

PS: I never enable RAPID on any of my 3 Samsung SSDs

Funny because everything you said is a lie.

You need to calm down your rhetoric.

Actually, pretty much everything, if not everything, he said is true.

Wish someone would tell how to stick a 10gb file into a max of 4gb cache..
Then turn off the computer smile.gif and expect that 10gb file to be written to a drive ?

Its a cache, all the numbers most likely will not be right on any performance test. But that does not mean it doesn't have value.
Many people much smarter than I have made ram caches since the invention of hard drives to not only increase speeds but to lessen usage of the hard drive. We all have paid for ram which takes forever to show signs of wear .. why not put it to good use & lessen wear on our SDD's & HDD's .. and speed some things up. No one should notice any slow down from using a ram cache - but all the hardware will benefit - maybe except for the Ram that some don't seem want to use for some reason.

magician by itself slows down SSD read access times. You can test access times with and without magician running. Rapid mode is not going to be noticed by end user, it simply increases cache, so frequently used files may load faster (or slower if doesnt make up for the increase access times of the non-cached files if magician is running). And of course with more data in cache, it increases risk of corruption, even though samsung designed it to not increase the risk (other than increase size increases risk by default). But max cache according to samsung is 1gb.

I have magician installed, but only run it every now and then to check the drive, then turn it back off, would never run that buggy program 24/7. Rapid mode, could care less about.

Here is my 850 evo with magician off.

Same run with magician on...you can try same on your own drive, notice the 2.7x slower read access time:

After testing it myself it isn't noticeable.

Same here. The benches were impressive but in actual use, it appeared to be a tad slower.

Use Anvil and see when it starts taking a hit.. nobody should give 2cents about how fast/low the reads are at 64threads, you're never experiencing those. But if Anvil shows you it starts at QD2 already then it's a problem obviously.

4k-64thrd difference is variable run to run...and not relevant to what I was talking about.
