I don't, that's why it didn't make a difference to me. All I care about is 4K reads and writes

So I'm having trouble cloning my current boot drive (120GB OCZ Vertex 2) to my new 500GB 850 Evo. I've tried both Samsung Data Migration and Macrium Reflect and they both seemed to work at first but when I restarted and tried to boot from the 850 evo I just get a black screen with a blinking line at the top.

Is there anything I'm missing? I can't afford the $50 for Acronis True Image and the trial doesn't have the clone feature either.

Here's a disk management screenshot from after cloning with Samsung Data Migration (I want to clone Disk 0 to Disk 1). Does this look right?

Your sig says you have a WD drive; WD offers a free version of Acronis True Image that supports cloning and backup.

Awesome! I'll give that a try when I get home from work today.

Thanks!

I just purchased Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB for £125 GBP from Amazon flash sale and this is the result I got:

Everything seems fine but I am worried about the 4K Write speed which seems to be half what others are getting here.

Should I be worried or is this some error on my part? I have partitioned the SSD into two partitions C and D equal size, if that helps.

Edit:

I just noticed this thread:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1379302/are-my-4k-read-write-speeds-slow-on-my-samsung-840-pro

Looks like this is expected as it is due to some settings in BIOS. I will not mess with power saving settings as running the CPU cooler is more important to me than blazing fast SSD lol.

Edit 2:

I installed Intel RTS driver as suggested and disabled Link Power Management. This time I got these results:

Still not significant improvement but better. Looks like I need to disable power saving mode from BIOS to improve the speeds further. I'm surprised that everyone in this thread took these measures before running their benchmarks as I didn't come across much complaint in here about lower speeds. confusedsmiley.png
