My 2 raid0 512gb 840pro drives house my steam games, Windows system, misc photos and few movies. Rest I have in the large storage drives.

With this being said I take it I won't gain much from Raid 0 and am better off cloning the 2 840 pros onto my 1 1tb 850pro. Correct?

you could take the "easy way out" and just move your steam games to the 1TB. maybe your docs/pics and video folders too . .
that mobo has 4 sata 6gbs ports, no?

I woke up this morning to check overclock.net when all of a sudden I got a dpc_watchdog_violation BSOD! I am on the newest firmware (according to magician), so I am really at a loss.... I have read multiple places this is a firmware problem with ssds and Windows 8.1 (which I am running). The 850 evo is the only drive I have.

Should I just wait for an update? Or should I contact Samsung?

Might want to look in your event viewer for the bug check code - that error is not always just for SSD's.

Upgrade time! Replacing a 120 GB boot drive that is getting tight on space. Anyone else have an issue with the 850s with Marvell SATA controllers? Couldn't get the BIOS to recognize the Samsung with a Marvell SATA controller. Had to use one of the Intel SATA connections on my Z77-UD5H

you actually get the best performance with the native intel 6gb ports, so you're all set smile.gif

Thanks. I was just using the eSATA port for the Samsung to clone the current boot drive. I was worried the Samsung was DOA when it didn't show up in BIOS, but then I remembered that port is on the Marvell controller. Since I didn't have any readily accessible Intel SATA ports left over I just disconnected my DVD drive and hooked up the 850. That port is actually SATA2, but doesn't matter since I'm just temporarily using it for the cloning process. The 850 will replace my current boot drive which is on an Intel SATA3.

Seems good so far

is there a need for installing the software that comes with it?

I think only if you want to clone the drive, otherwise no.
