No idea TBH, you can look through this thread itself to get a fair idea of what speeds the 840 Pro should give you. Also, if you don't mind me asking, why haven't you installed the Intel RST drivers?

can someone help me decipher this little problem i have.

i have 2 hard drives. 840 256GB is my primary driver. my older M4 128GB was my primary in another build. this M4 i just popped in my new motherboard and it took it (windows 7). i clean installed the 840 and moved files from the M4.

my problem is when i remove the M4, which i hardly use, my 840 pro won't work.

both ssd's have OS's on them. it brings up 2 windows 7's and it's set to take the 840's OS after 1 second.

the M4 was a backup but i hardly use it after a year and i'd like to use it on another computer. but every time i disconnect it and even interchange the sata cables the 840 pro won't take off.

Move away the dust now and again, and just now again check on new drivers/firmware's out for your chipset/controller, and the drive.
Those are some mighty odd suggestions there:
By moving temp files and stuff away to HDD youäll make your programs run slower. Especially browsers.
TRIM occurs in the background and theres no need to do it manually.
Dust (even vibration) is not a problem for SSD. PCB is sealed within the enclosure and unlike HDD-s theres no breather port and no way for dust to get inside.

Looks like your m4 still holds the boot sector. Remove all drives exept 840 Pro and run system repair from USB or optical drive so windows can create a working bootsector for your windows installation: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html
After you confirm that it was successful connect m4 and format it.

To disable trim in elevated mode "fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 1" and to get it going again change the 1 to 0, if you'd like to have a fast Brower then keep them on your ssd, my sites open in the blink on a hdd, if there's a temporary internet file I need to use it more Tha likly siting in the cache of the hdd, could be faster, but why smile.gif and most temp files are writen at intervals, like ms word edit/undo, id move them, and as for dust, your right, hdds pcb is open and more likly to have problems with dust, they heatup very quickly and dust will insulate it giving it a little more reason to get hotter, ssd also get "warm", so I was thinking that keeping it cool will "might" help with the life and performance degrading.
