I just got myself a Samsung PM830, but I can't update the firmware with Magician, apparently it's not a supported SSD for Magician. I've tried looking everywhere for "Samsung PM830 Update" and found nothing. Is this OEM Samsung SSD basically stuck with its current firmware? Will I be missing out on anything big from future Samsung 830 updates?
Yes, your stuck with that until someone can develop a tool, and no your not missing out on anything, AFAIK, no serious bugs have been reported.

Last night I installed my first SSD and ran the Magician Software. The performance optimization reports it ended with errors.

The drive is recognised and I see a performance improvement but......

MB: P6X58D
Drive is connected to Marvel SATA 6GB
Samsung 830 - 256GB
AHCI but how can I confirm. Magician states it is AHCI

Plug your drive into the Intel SATA 3Gb/s port on your board, not the Marvell SATA 6Gb/s.

Thanks for getting back to me.
Understood, but wouldn't that reduce performance?
Why not the Marvell?

I am just trying to understand why not the faster interface.
Would a PCI/e card be better?
