SSD Noob question.

Am I insane to want to run one Sansung 830 512GB? Aren't SSD's capable and reliable enough that we can take this leap of faith?

The Samsung 840 Pro 512GB for $50 more is out tommorow. Looks like it might be worth the extra coin.

At the moment I use 310 GB running 13 games and storage on Win 8. Are these SSD's Win 8 compatible? Anyone having Win 8 issues ruining these drives.

It would be better and cheaper to buy 2 Samsung 830 256gb (raid0) then 1 Samsung 830 512gb. The 512 is a little slow than any of the Samsung 830 series. I have about 260GB of games and the OS (windows 7 pro). So I bought 2 Samsung 830 256gb (less than $400) vs 1 Samsung 512gb ( $500).

you should wait for 840 and don't listen to people recommending 830 because they are a little bit cheaper. SSDs move so fast nowadays, that 830 that is a year old now is pretty much ancient. if you actually read 840 reviews it's like 30-50% faster than 830.

you talking 840 or 840 pro , because the 840 is faster and slower at the same time compared to the 830 , 830 is cheaper too...

Hi I have had a 128gb Samsung 830 for over a month.

It started off great but performance seems to have degraded quite a lot.

Any idea as to why this is happening? Everything with loading takes noticeably longer.

What tweaks have you tried? Is trim & gc kicking in?
