I noticed that both platter drives I have installed started giving SMART errors, and Sammy's 840 were on sale:

^__^ Should get it this week if all goes well.

A Samsung 830 is better then the Non-pro 840. I would go for the 840 Pro.

Also, price was a factor. 840 pro is 130-ish.
EDIT: bah, if it wears out, I'll get a 830 anyway. That was all I could fit this month in emergency...

don't read in too much about people saying "oh no 840 non pro wears out fast". it's true in theory, but in reality it will last you at least 10 years for normal use (unless you run SSD torture apps 24/7) thumb.gif

You could add me to the owners list, I'm picking up a 64 GB 830 after work for my server.

Should be a refreshing change after the old server motherboard kicked the bucket and the new board doesn't have an IDE interface. I imagine this will completely obliterate the previous 4 GB CF card in an IDE adapter performance-wise..
