Edit: I tried updating, but it failed.. I clicked ok and my pc rebooted automatically and eventually being stuck with a black screen saying 'loading operating system'. After a few minutes I turned everything off and on again. Fortunately it boots normal again.. but I guess I don't try this again. Also because I read the same on a different forum where the SSD ended up doing nothing at all anymore.

You were using the Bootable USB/DVD method or the Windows method? In an OS disk or non OS disk? If you try to update the firmware of your Samsung 830 on-the-fly with the Windows method, being your OS disk, you'll get a BSOD...but also, you'll update your firmware biggrin.gif It' not recommended to update firmware for anyhting sensitive(MB Bios, disk. graphics card, vacuum cleaner...)through windows. You can update your Samsung 830 firmware through Windows without problems if it is a secondary disk, but that's not possible without getting a BSOD if it is your OS disk.

I updated the F/W of my SSD today and it has the OS on it.

And here the first benchmark. I am happy with the sequential read/write speeds smile.gif

Yes, I updated it from inside the Samsung SSG Magician 3.1 program. Safest way, I thought. Maybe I will try that later smile.gif

Ok. Before doing anything, check if you have firmware version CXM02B1Q opening Samsung Magician v3.1-->System Information-->Drive Summary-->Samsung 830. Under Firmware, if your version is CXM02B1Q, then you have the latest firmware(remember to NEVER update a working OS drive through Windows!!!). If it is CXM01B1Q, then go and make a bootable cd/usb. Boot from that .If you encounter any problem, like your screen is messy, or the letters unreadable(didn't happen to myself, but I've read/seen about it), just press the Y key a couple or three times. If you have updated your firmware succesfully, the boot program should restart by itself.

I told ya biggrin.gif Today AMD can compete with Intel in terms of Sata performance/stability. Remember to let your system idle from time to time, usually an hour, to let the drive GC/TRIM. And enjoy it!! thumb.gif

So i installed the update using the USB method. When i was done with that i rebooted my pc and rechecked if the SSD was fully updated. My pc got stuck, so i resetted it. When my pc wanted too boot it couldn't find my SSD anymore and it also wasn't visible in my bios. So i shutted my pc down and left for dinner. When i came back i installed ubuntu first on my USB by using a other pc so i could still use my pc with the dead SSD. When i started my pc and wanted too select my USB as boot device, bios found my SSD!

A strange problem but a good end, i now have CXM02B1Q installed:D

Intel. Makes me question my decision on 2500k vs 8120 but that doesn't matter now does it . 10-MB more in read isn't a visible difference is it ?
