this. and this (BD-blog thread anyone?!)

I was looking through EA forums for solutions to my "could not connect to origin network, please try again" and almost every thread resulted in a PM from on of the EA folks, I have no idea how to resolve this issue because very little information was public.

I thought 4GB would be fine for a long while when I did my first build in 08, now Firefox itself can use nearly 1GB of ram when I have a bunch of tabs open. And besides, I bought 12 gigs of Ripjaws 2 years ago for $300, and recently bought 16GB of G.Skill's Sniper series for $80 on Amazon. That is pretty damn ridiculous if you ask me. Imagine if RAM prices start going up. Just look at what happened with HDD prices after the flooding in Thailand. You never know what's going to happen, so why pass up a good deal?

Go big or Go home ^^ 16gb 1600mhz ftw thumb.gif

Old thread but I'll bite. I suppose it's pretty dumb if you don't actually ever USE the ram, but I personally do other things with my machine than game. I'm a Computer Networking student in college and I frequently simulate domain environments on my computer with VirtualBox and about 6 different virtual machines. The ram comes in handy.

well for my ~2009 system thats pretty decent, i remember the days when i was the only one among all my friends and family who had 1GB of ram in his system, now the normal requirement is 4~8 gb (even in notebooks) i see nothing wrong with having 16GB ram smile.gif

You should simply post "gaming rigs should not be equipped with 16gb RAM" and leave it at that, unless you are open to somebody comming up with a reason you like.
