Tempted to get this for my FM1 build. Currently, its a 3850 with a 6850, runs anything I want on medium or higher.

So, not only is it a microarchitecturally tweaked K10, on 32nm, it also has more cache, in a different, and I would say better, arrangement.

Right, I was simply saying that the Llano does use the same CPU cores that's in an "Athlon II", but it is that particular Athlon II model. So when people say that the Llano uses an Athlon II core, it is a qualified "yes". I am in no way saying that Llano uses the "Propus" core in the AM3 Athlon II's. Sorry for the confusion!

HMMM... I wasn't aware that you could crossfire the 3850 with a hd6850? Unless u just have the apu's iGPU disabled and just using the cpu part of it... If that's the case then for $135 u paid for the 3850 you could of got a better performing cpu like the 960t or even the phenom II 970. If I am wrong please correct me but my understanding is u can only xfire with 6500 series discrete cards and below? Interesting...

You can't crossfire the A8-3850 with a 6850. Your understanding is 100% correct.

Yea, I have the iGPU turned off. And at the time of the build, i just ran off the iGPU, but I got my hands on an extra 6850 and just threw it in. If someone can't or doesn't plan to have have a video card, its a decent option.

Ahh, I see. Well I didnt try to call you out on that I was just confused but figured that was the case. Glad you are happy with your llano and a 6850. i have 2x sapphire hd6850 overclocked to 950/1130 @ 1.2v or so and it does everything I can ask it to do. I only play at 1920x1080 and get minimum 45 or so fps in BF3 and thats all i really need because I suck at the game so bad a quadfire 7970 rig would not help me haha

Ok here's a review from hardwareheaven.....http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1365/pg1/amd-fusion-a8-3870k-overclocking-and-dual-graphics-performance-review-introduction.html

My thoughts. It definately is a nice increase without the discrete gpu compared to a 3850. Usually 10 more fps easily when overclocked than at stock. Also if you crossfire a hd6670 you get performance that is ALMOST completely playable at high settings. So medium graphics it is and you are good to go it looks like on every game out there. I still want to see some better overclocks as these seem marginal and just enough to complete their review. Once some users get their hands on them I believe we will see cpu overclocks close to or at 4ghz and also 1000mhz on the iGPU. Seems like a pretty good budget gaming build and also as an htpc. I'd snag one up but gonna stick to trinity instead in a couple months! All in all it is an improvement and improvement is GOOD

I wonder if they used the TESV Acceleration Layer from skyrim nexus for their test. I never saw it on the benchmark page.

Either way, even if this isn't the greatest now it like bulldozer serves as a "proof of concept" of sorts, and it can only get better.

welcome to ocn first off! first post hey cool. I dont know if they used that acceleration, they do not say too much in their review. Didnt even say if the overclock was with multipliers alone or with base/multi combo.

I suggest you take a look at the Athlon II X2's.The have 1MB of L2 cache per core-just like the Llano K's.They are indeed patterned off the Athlon II dual core architecture at 32nm.Furthermore,what people forget when talking about L3 cache is that it adds latency.Fast core speed,low-latency interconnects and fast memory work very well together.
You can see here my Athlon in #1 spot vs a 960T in #11 spot.
