As of right now XFX and MSI have solid caps and a few other stuff upgraded on the reference PCB

Are you talking about non-reference design, MSI Lighting for instance? All reference cards should be the same, if the card has different solid caps and etc it should be considered as non-reference, or am I missing something?

I'm talking about this.

I'm not sure if these are the same exact cards as the reference cards, but I'm assuming they are since MSI and XFX both have mentioned they are upgraded from the reference, or maybe it's marketing?

Is this an exclusive reference design for MSI only? How about other brand? I'm about to get Gigabytes 7970s since it's the cheapest here, so lucky I didn't buy it yet, but when will it be released?

Since the MSI looks to be using the reference cooler, the size of the caps is most likely the same physical size and shouldn't obstruct the water block at all. That's just my thoughts on the subject.

Well I just looked on EKs website and looks at the differences between the PCB, they all look the same. I tried googling to see if there is any difference and couldn't find any.

Maybe it's just good marketing from MSI and XFX? I should have my Gigabyte tonight and I will find out then

Of course I will. I'm just not looking forward to uninstalling my loop, reinstalling GPU, then when I get my EK block I do it all over again.
How about braces for these cards? I have ta say that while I won't mind water cooling I really dislike the added weight leading to sagging cards.

On the other hand I'm definitely looking forward to 7890. Do you know when you will have a block for that card and would you have a paintable backplate for it?

I have the Crosshair IV Formula block and had to paint the plate so it would fit my build...

338

...so I'd really like to be able to do the same to any backplate I get to cover the new GPU. mellowsmiley.gif

Oh an could I get pen too? tongue.gif
