Yes. Running BF3 and logging it in GPU-Z they stay very close. Max difference of 3C. I think they are just additional temp sensors so one can get an accurate depiction of the overall temp.

My XFX 6970 under full load in GW2 was 95 C BF3 88 C Fan at 60% anything higher is quite loud
Temps have me a bit nervous MSI Afterburner is what I am using to monitor temps
No OC and the card is clean of dust

I know this could be a little off the topic. But do most AMD cards have the same max temp limit? My MSI 6770 overclocked and overvolted runs at 83c when playing BF3 at 99% GPU usage which is constant throughout the game.

I get about 81 C in BF3

Edit: After opening and cleaning my cards heatsink I now get 55 C in BF3

I know my cards shutdown temp is 105 C anything above 95 C would sure to cause damage over time. The newer cards(the new series and the last series 6xxx) AFAIK are designed to handle higher temps than older GPUs. What doesn't help is ATI default fan profiles and I recommend as I am sure many others using MSI Afterburner.

If you have Crossfire the top one will be 10-20c hotter so keep am eye on both temps. I use MSI Afterburner on my 6970's.
