New mobo and CPU

Thread Starter
Looking into a new mobo and cpu. What would be a good combo that allows for overclocking and is pretty stable as far as intel cpu's

The mobo needs to have an AGP slot for sure and would like to get this from newegg and not to expensive.

Ok... the only reason why I can imagine that you want to upgrade is dual core. However, there aren't many boards that support both Dual Core and have an AGP slot. If you plan to upgrade, I'd seriously consider going PCI-E.

Having that said, maybe this ASRock board might be something:

How about overclocking? WHich PCU's are easier to overclock?

How about this intel LGA 775 socket?

If you want to upgrade, your going to have to swich to PCI-e. Otherwise it looks like you have the best thing for AGP. (Intel that is...)

The Gigabyte DS3 and the E6300 is a good combo Or you could save a few $s and go for the S3, with the only difference being the DS3 has solid capacitors rather than electrolytic. This just means that the DS3 lasts longer than the S3.

I may be able to find a Intel dual core for Agp but i definitely know there's one for AMD.

What potential do I have with this combination?

Ok here is my suggestion. Get an e6300 with the ASRock board Chozart recommended. It has everything you need now with options to upgrade in the future and then get nicer board later when you have the $$$. Plus that e6300 will beat out the 4200X2 and the 945 at stock.
