Mind you, i'm one of those that likes to be safe more than sorry, but the performance price i've noticed between AV and no AV outweighs that illusion of security that i believe any program out there can give you.

All I meant by "pure luck" is that someone could be so meticulous and careful about their internet usage, and still end up with malware/viruses. Other people could be completely careless and not get anything bad. Then of course it also goes the other way too, the careful stay clean, and the careless have to reinstall windows every other week tongue.gif

Also; using just MSE, even if it doesnt actually protect very well, it at least warns me when some suspicious file pops up, so I know when to do a full sbs&d or mwalwarebytes scan thumb.gif And on the other hand I just expect to get malware, so i keep backups and most of my important stuff on a server that isnt used for anything but file storage, so if my desktop gets hit, I can wipe it and be certain I didn't lose anything. Better to be proactive rather than reactive.

Plus I have tried gaming with and without MSE, and the difference is definitely not noticeable.

Exactly. Common sense too, its the best AV thumb.gif

MSE is a great free one and AV works well too-i have used manny over the years, but i have to say since i tried norton security suite 2011 i wont use anything else. I have used it for over 8 months now and it works fantastic. I have not had one prob or slow up any were. I have it on 3 desk top home pc,s that are used for heavey gameing and work plus school. Plus put it on a new XPS i5 dell lap top. First time i have used norton in a few years, but glad i went back to them!!

Same mate Norton can cost a little but protecting a 3000$ investment and 3 computers for 80 dollars a year. Also I have tried many other anti virus software like AV, EST, AVG ETC. Norton has the biggest virus database. Norton also more than anti virus software, Identity protection, backup protection, and pc tune up options. I also game a lot and never notice running its scans however I do have beastly quad core computer.
