Call for help with new Sabertooth X79 Build

Dear Overclock Community,

My friend and I have about 3 builds of experience between the two of us but it has always been with AMD boards. My friend recently decided to build a new rig using a Sabertooth X79 with the current loadout:

i7-3960X
4GB X 4 of Corsair 1600 Vengeance RAM
1TB WD Hard Drive
Corsair H100 Cooler
GTX 560 Ti 1GB

We spent the last few hours putting it all together but when we fired it up we get no display. We get one beep, and then a pause, and then a louder beep, and then nothing. The VGA Red LED comes on and then goes off again but the Boot Device LED (red) stays on the whole time. A few moments later it shuts down on its own.

Here are a few pics of the current setup. Anything jump out at any of the pros here that we could be missing?

. Esnure the GPU is seated properly and that all power connections are secure. If it is a modular PSU ensure the cables are latched at both ends (PSU and board). If that does not work; move the video card up to the top most PCIe slot. Use only two memory modules in one channel, clear CMOS and then power up the board to see if it will POST

Thanks for the reply. I swapped around some of the SATA cables and it is now posting, though the farthest it ever gets is 'Loading Windows' and then shuts down. I reseated the cooler but to no change so far.

I was able to get it to stay in BIOS for a while where the temp remained around 70 degrees and then it turned off right away when I tried to go to windows. Think we're looking at an overheat?

Just an update in case anybody has this problem in the future. I moved all the DIMMs to the right hand side, moved the GPU to the top slot, and reseated the H100 again but this time really cranked down on it screws with Dragonforce strength. Now the temp holds steady at 30 degrees in BIOS but it won't boot windows. My friend will be installing his OS in the morning so I think we're good to go. smile.gif

OMG, your stuffs are all wrong. Do you even read the manual ? if you have 4 ram chips put it in the light brown slots and let it do the quad channels thing. the GPU go on top PCI-E near the CPU.

here's is what also inside your manual. Got love AMD owners.
