Gigabyte 880gm-USB3

Thread Starter
Looking to know how far I can safely push this board with a 1055t for an overclock. I posted a question awhile back and someone said it was a bad mobo for OCing due to only being a 4+1 or something like that. I'm not aiming for 4ghz but wouldn't mind a bit of an overclock for folding as well as overall increase. I will be using stock cooling as my case doesn't allow for a large cooler. I have a CM Elite 341 I could use but the way my desk is setup the cube I'm currently using just fits perfectly.

If it's not safe to OC very far or at all can someone link the best mATX mobo I could use, also considering a ram upgrade to 16gb just for grins. Would love a link to a decent ram kit as well, or pair of 8gb kits. I'm not very knowledgeable at parts as is evidenced by the machine below. But now I have it so I want to do the most I can with it. Already planning on upgrading the video to probably a 7950 though I will most likely be bottlenecked a bit.

Whoever said it was bad for OC'ing was probably drunk biggrin.gif

You can probably push that 1055T to about 3.4-3.6 Ghz with ease. Make sure that the voltage never crosses the high 1.4s and you're good to go thumb.gif

Consider these to keep the 'fets cooler and give you a tad more headroom - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708011

Pretty far, so long as you keep the VRMs cooled (or don't bother overclocking).  That means if you've got an aftermarket tower cooler, definitely get the extra heatsinks for better heat dissipation (better than none at all!)

the 880g's are great boards, but as said add the cooling to the board. i like your little cube case, but you would be better off to get something alittle better for ocing and cooling. theres alot of good prices out there for case's.

Use the 341. I have fit some pretty massive heatsinks in mine.

The mhz you will achieve will far outweigh how well your little cube fits your fancy little desk.

Edit: As for the board, without cooling i could see a nice 3.6ghz. with mosfet cooling, maybe 4~.
