Need HELP! connecting my last 2 GPUs in a loop!

Hello! I am doing 4way sli with 3 EVGA GTX 580 classified hydro copper cards and one EVGA GTX 580 Hydro Copper 2 card.

here is a picture of what i am talking about.

450

i know its weird to be using mixed waterblocks but i am doing it because there is no other way to fit my beloved Sound Blaster Fatality XFI card in between the cards

Is there any possible way to connect the EVGA Hydro Copper 2 waterblock to the Classified Hydro copper block?

the Hydro Copper 2 waterblock sits below the Hydro Copper Classifed Water block and makes this extremely difficult to accomplish.

look

450

Please help!

is there a really small connector/fitting of some sort that looks like the letter "S" to go from the lower waterblock to the higher one?

450

please let me know cause i would really like to do 4way sli and still use my Sound Blaster

only thing i can think of would be to put the three similar blocks in the top 3 spots and then run them in parallel with the bottom card in the trio having tubes come out the bottom and go into the bottom of the last card in series like this:

400

or you could trade it to somone who has a card with a matching block lol

Hey Tipless,

thanks for your efforts

unfortunatley i should of mentioned to you that the Sound Blaster Xfi card will not fit in any other slot unless the evga gtx hydro copper 2 card is before it.

this is because this waterblock is a true one slot block and does not cover the slot directly underneath it.

i did not want to put this hydro copper 2 card on the top first slot because it is the slowest of the bunch.

great effort though!
i appreciate it.

any other suggestions?

i cant see you rigs specs for some reason. could you link me to this motherboard?

also im sure this will be flamed but:

there is controversy whether the onboard audio is the same as after market. i havent been able to notice a difference between my soundblaster audigy and the onboard audio. i have heard similar accounts from other people. an idea would be to see if yoiu can notice an audible difference and if not well there ya go lol

There are no specs for my rig yet because it is not finished

my mother board is Rampage IV extreme

and to answer your comment about the audio,

well there is this crazy thing called EAX 5.0, 4.0 and 2.0 audio extentions that is a must for games like BIOSHOCK?
and some older incredible games like THIEF?

the older the game, the better it sounds with Sound Blaster cards because they were just designed for them.

The onboard audio that comes with the MOBO is Realtek!

Realtek sucks ass

Here's my thought, but no pictures biggrin.gif

First step is to separate the cards into two subloops... the top two identical cards fed by one loop entering and exiting from the top, the bottom two fed by the second subloop entering and exiting from the bottom (or wherever).

Then if there are any kind of "risers" for those two bottom cards akin to the link adapters EK make to use with their bridges, use that to redirect the ports so they're facing straight up then it will be much easier to connect them from there. Or achieve the same thing with 90-degree extenders like these.

Also not sure what kind of clearances you're working with between those two bottom cards but perhaps it's possible to cludge together an assortment of angles and extenders to go directly from one card to the other... for example a 45-degree rotary extender then maybe a short straight extension then another 45-degree rotary extension. Or maybe one or more straight extensions go right into the cards and the two 45's meet in the middle. It would take very careful measurement and planning but it seems a plausible approach.

Or waitaminit... those three cards that are similar, it looks like the top piece with the ports comes off the main block? What's underneath?

isn't there a mini x1 slot there ... you could get a new x1sound card and that might fit a little better .. and then hopefully get 4 of the same gpus and blocks.

probably not what you wanted to hear... but looking at your fittings there that is going to be awfully tough. you might be able to rig something using a couple short 90 deg fittings, but eh good luck.. tubing will most likely kink with a bend like that. probably changing the components or sacrificing the sound or 1 gpu would be better .. idk

or maybe you could do what the other guy was suggesting and instead of running all 4 cards in serial, split them out into parallel subsets in serial. thumb.gif
