Corsair H80 Newb with a question

Hey all,

I just got a Corsair H80 for Christmas and had a question about TIM.

It appears the H80 CPU bloc already has factory applied TIM. I have a brand new tube of Arctic Silver 5 TIM. I currently have a CoolerMaster V8 air cooler on my i7 2600K.

My question is, should I use the factory TIM or should I clean it off and use my Arctic Silver 5 TIM? I plan to use rubbing alcohol and Q-tips to clean off the existing CPU TIM.

Guidance from a knowledgeable community will be greatly appreciated.

The pre-applied TIM is very good quality. Id suggest you leave the TIM alone.

If you need to reseat the pump head, as is sometime required, then by all means, clean it off and use your AS-5

leave the factory tim on the H80, it's one of the best tim on the market. it's way better than Arctic Silver 5 trust me thumb.gif.

Thanks fo the responses. Will install tomorrow ans save the AS5. Since I have a free case, I may re-use my Coolermaster V-8 and will use the AS5 then.
