[WCCF]AMD Radeon HD7770 “Cape Verde XT” Specs, Pictures Leaked, Benchmarked on Intel Ivy Bridge “Core i5 3550″ Setup - Page 9

-_-' pls look at the last post. its not a die shrunk rebrand juniper.
5750 and 6750 had 720 sp and vliw5 architecture
5770 and 6770 had 800 sp and vliw5 architecture

7770 will have 640 sp from gcn architecture....

it cannot be a rebranded chip. also it will be quite a bit faster and it is an old 5670 and 6770 price target (it is the same. telling this for those who still dont get the change in model and price ranges from hd6k)

It's 640 GCN cores, not 800 VLIW5 cores...Not a rebrand at all. I'd wait and see before making any decisions, because GCN seems to clock extremely well.

It makes more sense to move on and implement an entire new system, rather than keep an older architecture for even slightly inferior products in the product line. AMD is moving on from VLIW.

Guh, I hope it's not only 640. It will be real hard not to wait and see what the "1280SP" HD 7850 will be able to do, then. Double the streams, 50% more ROPS, double the VRAM.. for only 100 bucks more? Very tempting!

I'm hoping the original reports were right, and it's 896 SPs. Of course, just a few more hours and we shall see.

640 was a guess from the 3DMark11 thing, however I wouldn't be surprised if it's higher.

That said though, we don't know how well GCN scales vs the amount of shaders, 640 might be a lot faster than you think.
