I've recently bought wc stuff from euro (for my upcoming build) when it came to (shipping through UPS) they also claimed there was Taxes for delivering stuff to Australia about 150 on top of the delivery fee however after contacting the shop and telling them that these taxes were BS they got in contact with UPS for me and got these supposed taxes remove. THERE IS NO TAX ON ITEMS UNDER $1000aud imported into Australia for private use that's the law here. I don't know what tax UPS was trying to pay GST? some Company tax, or maybe it's just a glitch in their systems but there is No Tax for imports.
I would question these hidden import taxes that FedEx claims exist because they just don't exist at least on the Australian side and i doubt the USA would tax's these exports.

With XSPC case i would not bother with them they will cost you easy 500 (case) + 100 ( basic accessories) + 60 (shipping) = $660aud
i would just bite the bullet and pay the ~$850 aud and get a great case that looks good, because let's face it although it does cost ~$190aud more but a th10 is easily worth $200+ over a XSPC case IMO.

That said ship does make the th10 which is cheap for what you get rather expensive for Australians redface.gif
so in summery
Case labs cases - Worth it
Shipping companies - FULL OF CRAP

I don't know what the deal is with shipping and Australia. As bad as they are, FedEx is significantly lower than UPS or DHL and UPS has has lowered their schedule rate twice for us already in an effort to take the business from FedEx - with no luck. The strange thing with all three is that New Zealand is about 25% less which doesn't seem to make any sense and supports the "hidden tax" theory (like high landing fees for commercial aircraft). Honestly, I don't know what the "truth" is frown.gif

I did read somewhere that oz airports do impose a high landing fee for aircrafts. Anyway ... think of getting the TH10 despite the shipping charges. Love the case.

Is anyone in Melbourne Australia Planning to buy a Caselabs Case or has done a group buy in the past ?

The rates to Australia have recently come down a bit. They're still pretty high, but not as breathtaking as before. We were able to negotiate a flat 65% discount from FedEx (which includes Europe as well). I'm always hitting them on the Australian rates. I think the international sales rep hates me - lol! That puts a flat-packed SM8 under $200.00. Still high, but those of you who have ordered in the past know what an improvement that is smile.gif

I was going to buy one a few months back till i had the same problem and was quoted like $400 just for shipping. No way in hell im paying the same price as a case in shipping not matter how good it is.

For all Aussies,

As stated we are trying very hard to get the shipping rates down. Ive crunched a few numbers for multiple shipments to a random address in Sydney. Typicality for most of Australia these numbers fairly reliable, but may not be 100% accurate. These estimates do not include taxes or duties; the customer is responsible for those charges. Customs officials assess duties and taxes based on information provided on the air waybill, the Commercial Invoice and other relevant documents.

It may seem odd that for more shipments the price goes up, but that's thanks to FedEx's "ship more pay more policy" tongue.gif

Prices subject to change, but there will be no expected change within the next 30 days

TH10

1-5x $316.00 per person (no group shipping discount)

SMH10 Flat Packed

1x $238.00
2x $168.00 per person (best deal)
3-5x $192.00 per person

SM8 Flat Packed

1x $190.00
2x $127.00 per person
3x $112 per person (best deal)
4-5x $128 per person

Flat packing would help, but not by much (The TH10 is only about $50-60 more than an M8). I'm hoping we can do better with the STH10, but we're still working on packaging design. The trick is to use USPS, but they have a 79" girth limit which very hard to meet, even for a flat packed M8. The larger cases will never meet USPS requirements.

I'm in Canada so obviously I'm not an expert on Aussie Importing but here you can actually pay the customs fees yourself at the gov't office and get around paying the "brokerage fees" levied by the shipping companies. At least here that seems to be a big part of the cost. It's usually more than the taxes for importing. Maybe something to look into.
