The local compusa has one 1090t left. I think I'm going to grab that over the BD 8150.

For what price? If its more then $150 i would still go for a 8120 or even a 6100 over that, they overclock much higher. Were talking like 4.8 on air, over 5 on water.

$165 brand new. Also picked up 2x4gb cas 8 1600mhz ram, just tested it, overclockes to cas9 1866 @ stock voltages no problemo!

And an msi 6770. Good enough for what I'm doing right now.

Easially the fastest PC i've ever owned, beats the poop out of my old i7-930 rig, and oc's just as high!

Installing updates @ 4.0 and ram at 1866 at stock volts and boost on (to 4.2).

Temps around 36.

Nope, got it, and I'd prefer six cores over a triple anyway!

4.14 @ 1.57 volts and a 7.19 cinebench. Lets get her to 4.2, jack up the NB, and than run more stress tests

wha.. wha.. *** happened?
You went from buying a 2500K to a 1090T?

Way to ruin the "future-proof" thing you had going on..

found a kickin deal on the mobo, and threw in a late stepping x6.

Its ahead of overclocked 2500k's in cinebench, and .4 behind 2600ks.

I'm happy with it, and being all I do is drool over rigs, tinker, and browse, it isnt like i'll ever use it to its full potential!thumb.gif

Congratulations... You followed the only 2 rules in system building that matter:

1) Always be mindful of price vs performance

2) Build a system based on what YOU do

At the end of the day, you're the only person using your rig so why go overboard competing with other people when all you do is surf the web and casually play games like Portal? Good luck enjoying your build. smile.gif

PS.. 4.14Ghz @ 1.57v... that's insanely high voltage. With that much power you'll be luck if your system lasts 2 years.

A overclocked 2600k/2700k will go over 10.0 in cinebench...atleast mine did.
