.
While I agree that the more VRAM the better, the 570 can run BF3 with everything just about maxed or close to it at 2560 X 1600, just some tweaking is all that is needed.
1280MB RAM isn't what it used to be but thats still not bad, my 570 does very well at the rez.
Not bad for a 320bit GPU.

If buying now though, find a good deal/coupon/rebate on a GTX 580/Radeon 7970 and go with that,

I wish I could tell you. I thought 1.2 gig of vram was enough.

Settings? If I turn off MSAA I can hit those numbers too (well maybe not in MP).

Already have a 570, I'm just worried if I buy another 570 to SLI I'll just run into the same VRAM limitations.

Anybody with 3dvision can tell me if it uses more vram?

What I can tell you is this. When I put one of my 570s in for RMA, 3D Vision was pretty much beyond me. Maybe I was just being fussy.

With SLI, it is superb. In my humble opinion, a single 580 of any sort just isn't enough for an awesome 3D experience. Why I opted for 570 SLI over a single 580 to begin with.

The only game ever to expose any sort of VRAM limitation is BF3. The only one.

I think I would take the extra horsepower over any potential VRAM issues at around 1080p res.

If you are going multi screen then I would worry.

SLI it or try to find a used 580 3gb?
I guess I can use the video card on another system or sell.
Thanks all.
Wish 590's came with 6gb of ram.
Mostly worried about the stutter in BF3 with SLI 570's due to VRAM usage. I get that on MP on ultra so I have to dial it back to not get the lag.

Im a little confused about the lag your getting with one card, I have mine overclocked to 900mhz and 2200mhz (4400) and have no lag spikes, plays smooth. Min usually 50fps and average 70-80fps depending on the map.

Werent there issues with 2600k and HT on with bf3? Im not running one so dont know how that worked out after the updates.

Although I havent read everypage but sure will, Im wondering the same question since I would like a 120hz monitor soon.

For 3d you want horsepower, not vram. All 3d does is take an output image and split it in two equal halves along with your framerate. What affects vram are high resolutions, high res textures, ,AA, and, hdr. That said, you seem to be at the limits of your vram with your current settings. If you want higher settings, then get cards with more vram. If you like your current settings, then get another 570.

About chosing one single faster card than sli two "slower" ones....

I ran a 560ti sli a few days before returning it. The little setup did amazing in bf3 ultra mssa off 1080, while I didnt data log with frapps it seemed min was 70-80fps and average 100+ fps. I was disappointed that I couldnt run msaa and I just saw it maxing out in the near future (2012) so returned the new one and sold my original one for the gtx570. After the gtx570 didnt do it either I realised msaa is over rated lol, i didnt see a difference when it was on and the extra vram on the 570 didnt help. I have been happy with the choice though and until reading the 7970 benchmarks I was planning on getting another 570 for an sli setup. I will probably still sli it, but i want to read up more on 1920x1200 resolution and or 120hz 3d gaming too before i buy another

Im a little lost, maybe i missed something but my single gtx570 does that too, is sli enabled in your nvidia console?

I play on 1080, ultra, msaa off, and blur off (for good measure, havent played with blur on)

What settings are you using?

Seriously somebody needs to find a way to benchmark BF3 MP. Caspian Border with 64 at Ultra settings I will get lag spikes when going anywhere with a decent amount of other players. Flying a plane is almost impossible.

Oh just read you have MSAA off. With MSAA off you won't hit vram limitations.

Also the 2600k stuttering only happens to me when I OC my CPU. At stock no lag spikes (if I run on high).

I'm just worried about hitting VRAM limitations next year (since most of EA games will be using some sort of Frostbyte 2 engine).

Anybody with SLI 570's able to run ubersampling on the Witcher 2? I heard that game needed massive vram too.

I play on 1080, ultra, msaa off, and blur off (for good measure, havent played with blur on)

Ultra preset, no changes. MSAAx4 and Blur on I think is the preset. And with the preset to HIGH, I think the AA is off? maybe? I'm not sure. I just did a quick run on single player to check it out and really I was sitting around 80-105fps with ULTRA. Perhaps the multiplayer slows it down a bit? That's what I normally play.

Just retried with MSAA off and it will hit/sit at my v-sync at 120hz/fps and occasionally dips below 100

I like the high setting better, I don't "see" any difference myself and like seeing in my corner of the screen the high FPS number.

I think there's like 2x aa with High?

Try Ultra with no MSAA and you should be able to run it fine again. I basically played around with Afterburner figuring out how much VRAM each setting seemed to use.

Having the extra GPU power is nice but when I have to dial down some settings due to VRAM limitations it bothers me.
