Sapphire HD7970 - Page 7

The release for sale of the 7970 has been released by AMD already to be January 9th, 2012. This is only for the 7970 and the rest will be at least a month later. 7990 is to come out I think in april.

I have seen many articles and sites saying the release date of the 7970 to be 1/9/2012. There is no way for him to buy this card. No one can buy this card right now. The only way he could have got this card is if he works for Sapphire and this just came off the line. All third party retailers have just received the reference recently to do testing and optimizations. there is no way there is a sapphire 7970 in the market yet.

Like I said, the only way for him to get this card is if he works for sapphire. Even then, he wouldn't be able to take it home. If this card is real then it has just been brought off the line and is in testing. If the OP is the one testing the card for sapphire then yes I do believe but since he said that he just received his card, I do not believe this post at all.

The OCN members should have recognized this by now and I dont understand why they haven't.

It would be nice if someone could elaborate on the authenticity of this post, that would be great. Otherwise, I think it is BS...

There are other threads on different forum sites out there that shows the unboxing & testing of the 7970. Just Google & you will see for yourself wink.gif I've found a couple more sites (in different languages) using the Sapphire 7970.

Love that reference design too. It feels like only yesterday that I bought my reference 6950 on release. Gosh time sure does fly. rolleyes.gif

People, he can easily attain one of those cards. There's dozens of sites that already released their reviews and benchmarks of the card. Like many other computer products, the manufacturer simply sends out copies to trusted sites or reviewers to review then they send it back. OP obviously is a reviewer or knows someone that is. PasxosC definitely just confirmed it..

I have no reason to not believe this guy and will give him the benefit of the doubt. He just may be keeping quiet because he has connections and that would be a big no no to drop dimes on your hook up. If he is lying, who cares? They will be out in 9 days and AMD is gonna be bringing in the money. Hopefully AMD's fab can make em fast enough. $550 or not, they WILL sell like hotcakes. Personally I have never spent over $200 on a card but seriously thinking now is the time. What a nice piece of hardware!

I saw your original post on what look to be a Greek Forum. Nice looking card thumb.gif

With my reference sapphire HD 5850 I just did the config file change within MSI after burner and had full voltage control. Are these cards going to be the same also ?
Thats what I was saying. Some of us were under the assumption that he purchased them. This makes sense that he is a reviewer. I apologize for not believing the authenticity of the card.

The way that I read it convinced me that he purchased it. I still do think its kind of weird because it has Sapphire on it. Wouldn't the cards that come to be reviewed be the reference cards. It seems too early for reviews to come out on a Sapphire 7970 since there are reference cards not out yet.

Anyway, I understand why this post is possible due to the fact that he is a reviewer reviewing a new 7970 gpu.

I apologize if I questioned the authenticity of it. Thanks for clarifying.

I went back to the first post and realized that the first time I looked at the post that half the pics did not load or something cause I did not see all of these.
I must have missed them cause I dont think I would have made a deal about it after seeing the pics.

Anyway, they came out with a water block for the 7970 and the 7950 already. Check them out...
