GTX 570 MSI Frozr III in SLI?

Hey guys,

I've been enjoying BF3 at high settings with my gtx 570. Has anyone seen great improvements with the gtx 570 in SLI mode on this game? it is a pretty hefty investment to drop like 360 bucks on a 2nd card. But I am tempted.

570 SLI is very good for future games. As your perfomance will be higher than any single GPU of the upcoming new series 7xxx. Except ofc if you buy 2 of them in SLI but they gonna cost A LOT.

Just ordered my 2nd 570 to SLI but I have a feeling I still won't be able to run BF3 at Ultra (not custom Ultra).

From people who told me to stick with the 570's, SLI seem pretty efficient. Most people got a good 80-90% increases but they still couldn't do Ultra without turning off AA due to VRAM limitations at 1080.

Sidenote: Whats your FPS on high? I would have though you could do high with ease unless your monitor is some huge resolution?

I played through BF3 SP with a single GTX570 at 1920x1200 at game preset Ultra.  I did not monitor the framerate but I experienced no lagging/stuttering/slowing down at all.  But my monitor is 2D (60Hz).  As your Asus VG238H is 3D 120Hz and I suppose you play with 3D, then this factor might pose enough stress to a single GTX570.

I also played through BF3 SP with GTX570 SLI at 1920x1200 again at game preset Ultra.  With VSync enabled, my fps was 60+ (100% of the time? not sure as I did not constantly monitor it).

Again, if you play with 3D, it is a different story.

Lastly, I played SP only.  If you are playing MP, that is another story as well.

Ultra on SP is no problem for me also. MP is a different story (especially with big maps and max players).

From everything I was told, 3d doesn't use VRAM. It just uses more processing power (makes sense, they just need to remember the frame twice).

If you don't have a 120 hz monitor, it might not be worth an upgrade. If you want to smooth out your min FPS in MP maybe a card with more VRAM? I don't know, its a hard time to upgrade with a new card coming out in a few days.

This totally reminded me I needed to update my rig info.

I currently play at BF3 with my GeForce 570GTx overclocked at 830/1640/2100 in ultra mode and don't experience any lag.
