Ram Clearance

Thread Starter
Quick question about ram clearance. I am getting an Asus P8P67 Pro MB, I5-2500K and a CM Hyper 212+. Will this ram clear the cooler.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145347 Corsair Vengence 16GB (4X4GB)

The heat spreaders look kind of tall.

The reason I'm asking is I'm thinking the Blue Or Black heat spreaders will look better on the MB than the red on the ripjaws.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think it's doable, but it'd be a tight squeeze for sure. Personally, I'd look at Corsair's "low profile" Vengeance model, if only for the peace of mind, especially if you're going with 16GB. Link here.

EDIT: Comes in blue, too.

Depends how you mount it... In my desktop, I have only 1 fan (do you have 2 fans?) on the cooler and it's pushing air from the rear to the front and the fan is on the rear side of the cooler. In this configuration, I can fit all 4x4GB sticks of my Corsair Vengeance. The heatsinks are pretty tall though and if i mounted it the other way, from bottom -> top, I'm not sure it'd fit (mine's a MSI board, but position of all these things are pretty much the same for ATX boards). Do consider low profile RAM though

I am only gonna run the one fan. The 212+ is just temporary until I can get a water cooling kit.

Thanks for the replies.

I've built a system with that exact combo. It will fit but you can't use the fan on the ram side of the cooler. You'd have to put the fan on the rear side in pull configuration. So no push or push/pull. You'd need low profile ram for that
