BioShock Infinite is an upcoming first-person shooter video game, and the third game in the BioShock series. Previously known as "Project Icarus", it is being developed by Irrational Games for a 2012 release on the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. BioShock Infinite is not a direct sequel or prequel to previous BioShock games, taking place in an earlier period and different setting, though it features similar gameplay concepts and themes. The player controls a former Pinkerton agent, Booker DeWitt, as he attempts to rescue a woman named Elizabeth trapped aboard the collapsing air-city Columbia in 1912.

Loved the atmosphere in the first game , although not really pleased with the 2 weapon system here.

I actually like the 2 weapon system. Carrying around several guns that wouldn't be used often seemed like a waste, but it all depends on playing style. Maybe at a harder difficulty the weapon limit should be 2? That seems like a reasonable idea. The regenerating health bothers me though. Makes the game too easy and it's overused in shooters.

First one was probably one of the best games I've ever played. Played through it like four times. Second one wasn't too bad, bought it launch day and was actually fairly impressed with the multi player, lots of fun.

Can't wait for this one, atmosphere looks amazing. I will miss Rapture, though

I loved the first one as well. It seemed to have a much better storyline than the 2nd. The second one felt like a very long rescue mission and it's story wasn't as deep as the first. However, the ability to roam outside the glass walls of Rapture was definitely different, and the multiplayer was a step away from the original Bioshock, in a positive way of course.

BioShock Infinite gets 1999 mode to challenge the hardcore gamer

Irrational Games chief, Ken Levine explains that the 1999 mode was added to include features and tweaks that would not be present in the standard playthrough.

There are a number of characters who stand out in every field for saying no to the system, do things their way and do so successfully. In the video game industry there are many such characters and one of them is the boss of Irrational Games, Ken Levine who has been at the helm of the critically acclaimed BioShock series.

I'm hoping the 2 weapon limit will only apply to the 1999 Mode, and the other difficulties will resemble the previous weapon system in Bioshock 1 and 2.
Maybe no regenerating health?
I'll be happy either way.

I'm always skeptical about upcoming games because I feel as developers are not really committed to their product. Its just more of a quick get rich scheme. But this, Bioshock Infinite looks stunning. Just from looking at the 10 minute gameplay, I am amazed.

Absolutely loved the first game and played it through multiple times and so I pre ordered the second game and it was a bit of a mess unfortunately and some major bugs didn't get fixed for nearly a year. This bad experience has made me a bit apprehensive about this one. I definitely wont be pre ordering but I will see how the release goes and buy it if all is good.

Your Answers for 1999 Mode
Quote:
Last week, we called on our fans to ask any questions they may have about the recently announced 1999 Mode for BioShock Infinite. We're thankful to say that we received quite a few responses, and many of them shared common themes, giving us a nice selection of topics to cover. We handed these questions from the community over to Irrational Games Design Director Bill Gardner, who was more than happy to shed some light on what the new mode has to offer. Without further ado, take it away Bill!

I just finished playing Bioshock 2. When I bought both games 2 years ago, I wasn't really into them but now after playing both, I must say that Ioved them, the story was amazing and the gameplay, awesome! I can't wait for Bioshock Infinite. For a company with not so much of an impressive game resume, these games quickly rose to my top 5 of all time favorites.

I absolutely loved Bioshock and Bioshock 2 was a decent game with a good story line. This game better be FULL DX11, kill my 570, make my CPU cry, and give me a reason to get an upgrade!
