[Official] Bioshock Infinite PC Information & Discussion Thread - Page 42

post #411 of 889
Finally got a chance to sit down and dig into the game. I was curious, plus my girlfriend wanted to see the game, so I hooked it up to my 240hz television. Wow, huge difference from my 60hz 1920x1200 24" monitor. As I began getting into the story I slowly started upping the graphic settings. Everything is running very well so far with very little lagging hiccups. Everything is maxed with the exception of shadows (which I left on normal to keep frames stable. Plus, I never see differences with most shadows in the games I play).

The guns feel more weighty playing with the gamepad (obviously due to vibration feedback). Surround sound/subwoofer helps too.

Loving the game. It's so well polished and engaging. As someone else mentioned, some very excellent games in this early 2013, and Bioshock Infinite is at the front of the pack.

I believe Infinite may be a good game, but jeez its the most repetitive since the next-door shooter.
Too much focus on shooting rather than plasmids and that fun stuff we had in BioShock 1 and 2.
And even on 1999 mode, the game feels easy.

And I hate the theme, no not the design, but the theme.. and the enemies are rather boring and feel uninspiring.

You thought the siren in 1999 mode was easy? With no vending machine access either?

3570k @ stock clock (enhanced msi turbo boost)
8gb DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24
7950 3gb boost state (10% overclock 980 core --> 1090 memory 1250---> 1375mhz)
Catalyst 13.3 beta 3
Windows 8 Pro

Bioshock setting:

Ultra preset and yes.... frame rate limiter ACTIVATED in games
CCC setting, everything stock no CAP but v-sync OFF (unless application specified)

Nothing is lagging except at certain point when it load part of the map (1 ms lag then 60 fps). Everything is running at 60 fps for me without any problem. Those 1ms lag are most likely related to HDD read speed. I will install on my SSD tonight.

i got a problem...

i have exactly the same system ( I only got windows 7 instead of windows 8) and the first 1 and a half hour of the game were absolutely smooth and well playable without big lags with all settings on ultra.
but since then, its lagging almost all the time. especially in every single fight! its so hard to kill the enemies with such lags lol. i have even put down the graphic settings to very low! but even then its a bit laggy in fights.

i don't know what to do. do you guys have any ideas?

[SystemSettings] Is where you put the OneFrameGPULag=False. Also put CompositeDynamicLights=True in the same place, gives about 10% more FPS without any loss of quality.

If you're experiencing stuttering between maps, use these settings.

Inside XEngine.ini:
Code:
[TextureStreaming]
PoolSize=640
HysteresisLimit=20
DropMipLevelsLimit=16
StopIncreasingLimit=12
StopStreamingLimit=7
MinFudgeFactor=0.5
FudgeFactorIncreaseRateOfChange=0.5
FudgeFactorDecreaseRateOfChange=-0.4
MemoryMargin=20
MemoryLoss=0
StopIncreasingLimit=12
MinEvictSize=10
MinRequestedMipsToConsider=11
MinTimeToGuaranteeMinMipCount=0
MaxTimeToGuaranteeMinMipCount=0
MaxTextureMipCoint=11
MixTextureResidentMipCount=7
UseTextureFileCache=True
LoadMapTimeLimit=5.0
LightmapStreamingFactor=0.04
ShadowmapStreamingFactor=0.08
MaxLightMapRadius=4096
MaxShadowmapRadius=4096
AllowStreamingLightmaps=true
TextureFileCacheBulkDataAlignment=1
UseDynamicStreaming=True
bEnableAsyncDefrag=False
bEnableAsyncReallocation=False
MaxDefragRelocations=256
MaxDefragDownShift=128
BoostPlayerTextures=3.0
TexturePoolSizeReductionMB=40
LowPCTexturePoolSizeMB=256

If you have more than 2GB of VRAM and you only play at 1080p, you can increase the pool size to 960.

You mean the final battle isn't repetitive too?

You mean the part where you have to kill about 50 Patriots and use the Songbird to destroy everything? I didn't find it repetitive, since the songbird one shotted everything for me.
