finished the game on my GX60 @ very high settings

avg 40fps and had almost a smooth experience not a lot of frame dips

I believe the stuttering is caused by the game engine trying to use too much Vram for a specific GPU. Haven't had to change anything with my 4GB 680's but from what I have read with default settings many 2gb 680's hit 100% vram usage then the stutter occurs. This is why the Poolsize helps as it is stopping the game from hitting the 2gb limit

As for the game itself - the last two games I completed were Far Cry 3 & Crysis 3 and in comparison, the story is Infinite times better biggrin.gif Really unimpressed with the graphics-they are not terrible but not even close to the last few AAA games I have finished being Max Payne3/FC3/Cry3

I running it on my laptop on Very High with a i7 and a mobility 7670 and I don't get any of the issues you guys are experiencing.
You should have bought a toshiba laptop biggrin.gif:D

Max Payne 3 was.... I didn't like what they tried to do graphically. With that said, you might be right about the agressive vram use. As I've noticed it goes down when you set the pool high, it goes up when you set the pool low. As a 7950 owner, I've got 3GB and average use is around 1.5GB. I could see it going up to, or close to, 2GB. Even if it didn't max a 2GB card, poor optimization could explain how it suffers when getting close to the limit. Might lower my pool size now back down to the original 140 and see how it compares. I also noticed the higher you set the pool, the more GPU use you get.

So turn off SLI and enjoy the game...what's the issue?

My PC is over 4 years old and I'm on Ultra High settings...I think people just over reacting to little bits of lag.

depending on the situation that little bit of lag can cause splitting headaches for some. everyone's brain reacts differently to stutter so what may be fine for you may be unplayble for others. it's more of a medical issue then just whining for some.

I know it can cause some weird issues - especially if you move the mouse but it lags at that exact moment - your brain expects to see movement yet there is none.

I didn't have much, just occasional stutters as it loaded something but they were quite rare. Game was installed on my HDD so maybe if I had it on my SSD it would be better. It's certainly no worse than I've had in other games, especially something like GTA IV.

if I look at my MSI AB plot after playing a short time, I can see concurrent "GPU 1 and 2 Usage" graph dips down to ZERO for a split second when I believe the stuttering is happening...I wonder why? would maxing out VRAM for a second cause the GPUs to do that?

this forum is made up of people that spent lots of money for new hardware and when a game doesnt utilize it fully, it gets annoying. I personally dont care at all because infinite was such an amazing game but I could see why the stuttering and gpu usage drops are annoying for people that pride themselves on having top of the line hardware.

Because I'm a dork, I'ma deconstruct this screenshot of a blackboard with maths!

Can't quite recall where this was in game, but it's physics!
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Below, descriptions (to the best of my limited ability) of the boxes in the pic.

A.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
This was very cool and very confusing. This is the Euler-Lagrange equation, which for unimportant reasons is my favorite physics equation (it's actually just a pure math equation, but because of the Principle of Least Action can be interpreted as a physics equation). It's cool because, obviously, it's my favorite! It's confusing because the terms are not the usual one's used. Usually, the E-L equation is given with the functional L (the Lagrangian), instead of H - which is conventionally the Hamiltonian, and which in this context isn't the correct functional to use.

So H has to represent the Lagrangian here, which is fine. It's just a letter. The same applies to the sigma on the right-hand-side. From the context I'm sure this is the generalized force, although that's usually written with Q (if even that...it's actually usually written as an explicit operation.) Most elementary applications will find the right-hand-side to be zero. The terms here also have the signs backwards, but this can be excused as merely convention.

It's also confusing because it has nothing to do with quantum physics, but then again, very little on the board does.

B.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I have no idea. The top is maybe some specific potential function? The equation on the bottom caught my eye because it looks like a relativity equation, but it's written without any context (and isn't even an proper equation) so I dunno.
C.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
This looks like a spectrum graph, probably a Boltzmann distribution. The vertical line probably represents the root-mean-square, but the label is hard to make out (again...out of context, hard to tell.)
D.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Yay! A proper quantum equation. This is the famous Schrodinger wave equation, rendered with an ugly font and color and obviously added in after someone realized the plot needs quantum physics and there wasn't any originally on this board.

E.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Hard to make out, but clearly thermo-physics (which is really just stat-mech, but it looks a bit thermo-y here). I see (upper left, lower left) internal energy of an ideal gas, (middle left) some heat capacities, and (middle right) some adiabatic equations of state.
F.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I was kinda hoping these were Feynman diagrams, but I think they're just doodles of lenses. (NOTE: didn't see this before, but there is a proper Feynman diagram in the picture! It's to the left of H. - it looks like Quantum Chromodynamics, and I'm pretty sure this represents the beta decay of a neutron)
G.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
A lense diagram, which has a weird and entirely unphysical bend.

H.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I think these are some kind of harmonic oscillator equations.

So the stupid gun is probably covering up the key to everything, but something tells me they just copied a bunch of stuff from google images and put it through some "chalk" filter in photoshop.
