was just about to post a few SS of some framerate dips i have been noticing, but I guess it is a known issue. biggrin.gif

I also noticed though that in a few benchmarks I found online, they were getting lower FPS than I am and were using an overall better machine. I have the settings on Ultra, my video card at stock and I pull ~90 fps on average and ~60 fps in some odd areas. Anyone else getting better performance then what they expected? I was not expecting to run the game on ultra and have it play smooth as butta. (sans the major fps drop areas)

I also have a 7970 and like I said in a previous post, for the most part the game has been buttery smooth (not counting loading areas obviously). I am however getting pretty significant FPS drops and general lag when there's a ton of things going on at once. I actually temporarily have another 7970 to test and I'm getting the same problem - games runs amazing 98% of the time but is getting really bogged down when the action gets intense. I checked and my GPU utilization in Crossfire is around 40% on both cards (usually near max on one card). Could be some optimization issues or perhaps something with my system, but it's a little concerning. When the game is running perfectly at 120 FPS it's a beautiful sight to behold, but it's a bit immersion breaking to get these huge framerate drops during the most epic of fights. Have to do some more testing but even lower the settings didn't seem to help much. My 3570k OC'ed at 4.5 GHz can't possibly be a bottleneck here, can it?

Really would like to hear some input on how the game is running for those running higher end nvidia cards (670 and up). I do have another ten days or so to return my 7970's and want to make sure I get the right card for my setup. Then again the game has only recently came out and there could be some optimization issues in play.

I'm using vysnc through d3doverrider, otherwise I get a little bit of screen tearing at 140-150 FPS.

are the graphics in this game worth the performance hit? framerate seems pretty low for a game running on aging Unreal Engine 3.
also does it have that immersion killing "loading" thing in the middle of action sequences or cutscenes like in games running the ancient Source Engine such as Portal 2?

The graphics are ok, but the art design is spectatular. You need to be able to understand the difference between the two and appreciate each for what they are. Is the game beautiful? Yes. Does it have good graphics? Not really.

It does have the loading problem as every Unreal based game does.

I've experienced the slowdowns like many others. However they are very minor and it only occurs in specific areas and only for a second at the most. I use a 60fps frame limiter and my fps drops from 60 to 30 for a second. Its really not a big deal. The only way I could see it interfering with the enjoyment of the game is if your OCD about your computers performance. Once you accept that the stuttering is happening because of something out of your control, you can enjoy the game much better. Plus Im sure it will be patched.

I'm pretty sure everybody is dealing with this, as well as the game stuttering during loading sequences. I don't consider either of these to be concerns. What does concern me are the frame drops during the particularly intense sequences within the game. Are other people really not experiencing this?
